Holiday Tongs

for Fine Motor Skill

Development

Fun Christmas tongs ideas for holiday fine motor skill games for preschool kindergarten students
Using Christmas tongs for fine motor skill practice is a super easy way to make fine motor development activities more festive for the winter holidays! Why didn't I think of this for my classorom sooner?! Grab a set of Christmas tree tongs and any small objects in your Preschool or Kindergarten classroom, and BOOM, suddenly the students are scrambling to the brand new "game"!
Shells and rocks are so simple (and CHEAP!), but become so darn exciting with the addition of some holiday tongs! Have your kiddos sort them by size or make shapes to build those fine motor muscles. The teacher, or the student, can even draw a simple picture for the little ones to "trace" by using the tongs to place the tiny objects over the lines.

Another really easy way to create a small motor skill game involves cards. The student or teacher places different colored cards on the edge of the table. Using the Christmas tongs, the student picks up each card and sorts them by color. So simple, but full of festive holiday fun! What ideas do you have for developing fine motor skill activities using tongs?
